White Fang was a very interesting book and very detailed. Reading it was a bit strange because it was all from the point of view of a wolf. This was my first essay. It was terrible. I enjoyed the book (got bored at some parts) but it was the essay that threw me off course. The Jane Schaffer format was so hard for me to use. It was extremely limiting and had me stressed so often. I’ll admit that it was a very useful method for writing and putting together essays that would end up organized but, like I said, it was too limiting. If I had a specific thought in mind I had to rearrange the words to fit the layout or not mention the thought at all. But the format and the White Fang essay were very important to my year and I learned a lot from both.
Fahrenheit 451
I think I enjoyed the story Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury a bit TOO much. When it came to the essay, my troubles once again came from the Schaffer format. The book itself was interesting and I always wanted more, even though some parts could be hard to understand. When it ended I was so disappointed. There had been an amazing buildup and plot during the story and then it all just ended within four pages, rushed and dead. A great dystopian future and a great climax but a resolution as straight as a cliff, meaning it literally just dropped out of nowhere.
